I wanted to stop in and give you a bit of a different update. I wanted to let everyone know about some other art type things going on in my life.
I am a big believer of Yin and Yang and balance in life. In my art I am somewhat of a detail person. I think this has to happen when an artist strives for photo realistic levels of detail. All this detail can sometimes feel very mechanical and processed. I wanted to help with the balance so I needed an outlet.
My wildlife art means a lot to me and so do my other art interests. I really enjoy doing portraits and figure drawings as well in my spare time. Both finished pieces and gestural type styles. I have started attending a small weekly local artists life drawing group. It is such a different type of art and I'm having a lot of fun doing it. It forces an artist to become free and loose with your style. Especially during gesture poses and other quick poses. I am having a lot of fun with it but it is also very humbling. It is very difficult to draw from life and I am learning lots. I think it might be the balance I am looking for.
Hopefully some day I will get to the point that I feel confident enough to share some of them with you. Until then I encourage everyone out there to join a group and have a unique experience as well.
Thanks again for stopping in.

Happy Holidays
Well the day is quickly approaching and life outside the computer box is getting busier by the minute. I wanted to make sure that I stopped by and said Merry Christmas to all my friends, collectors and watchers. Thank-you for all the nice comments and stopping in to see whats new from time to time.
Lots on the board and in my head for 2010 so I hope to see more of everyone on my pages as I share my new ideas.
Happy Holidays from the studio of Kevin Johnson. :)
Long over due
Well here I am once again stopping in to say how long it has been since I have uploaded.
I would like to say that it is because I have been so busy that I have not had time. In this case its because I have been nervous to upload images. It has now happened that my artwork has been stolen and used to resell as cross stitch patterns on ebay.
My art is my passion and with it comes long periods of time to complete. I'm not a fan of people who are only in this to make money and that will steal others works to do this. I'm not telling you this to rant I'm just telling all my artist friends to be aware of what could happen when you take the time
New Work...finally
Hello once again,
I am glad to be updating my journal for everyone. This means one thing to me, the spam stuff has slowed to the point that I feel confident to share once again. Yeah :)
I have added one of my latest works into my gallery Titled "Portrait of an Heir - Bald Eagle" so please feel free to have a look.
I'd also like to say a big thank you to a wonderful wildlife photographer and new canadian who has graciously allowed me to work from his reference. `guitarjohnny (https://www.deviantart.com/guitarjohnny)
As always thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I hope you enjoy.

New Study Piece
Hello Everyone on DA,
It's been quite some time since I have shared any new pieces with you. I have been quite busy creating and preparing for an upcoming show this summer.
I thought I would share a smaller work that is more of a study as it is only 7x5 in size. It is titled "Afternoon Watch - Seagulls" which pictures two seagulls taking turns snoozing on a rock. It is completed in various grades of graphite pencil on illustration board. I shot the reference for this piece on a trip to Salt Spring Island on the West Coast of BC Canada. They just seemed so content. Sometimes the simplest images are the most beautiful.
I hope you like it an
